Gary Davis: Executive Vice President of OperationsCut from the same cloth as Shelby legends Phil Remington and Bernie Kretzschmar, Gary Davis is a genuine American hot rodder. As Vice-president of Production, Research & Development for Shelby American, he has the opportunity to unleash his creative spirit to build the ultimate American performance cars.
Gary’s responsibilities include overseeing all Shelby Mustang and Cobra production at the Las Vegas facility and Shelby mod-shops around the world. That includes production at the Indian Springs location, as well as management of all of the parts inventory and paint facility.
In addition, he manages all research and development at the Las Vegas design center. This is where he can experiment with new designs and ideas to create even better performing vehicles.
Gary joined the Shelby team in 1998 to as part of the Shelby Cobra program. His role has grown as the company has expanded. In 2006, he was promoted to vice president.
A lifelong hot rodder, Gary originally hailed from the Midwest where he worked for a variety of high of profile companies such as John Deere while learning how to create production systems and manufacturing processes. He also received training in vehicle mechanics at Sidney Vo-Tech School. But like most successful hot rodders, his best training came from hands-on work.
It was during his youth that he first fell in love with fast cars. He spent most of his high school years wrenching and honing his mechanical skills so he could trounce competitors at the local drag strip. This happened to be a bit of highway north of town using the length of the cemetery as a marker, because it measured a quarter mile from end to end.
